Upstairs Bathroom is Open for Business

The upstairs bathroom is almost complete but I thought I would share some pictures with you today.  We still need to order the custom shower glass but that will happen soon.

Freestanding Tub
The free standing tub is my favorite. I love that we were able to place it in front of the window.

Plumbing a freestanding tub is a bit of a challenge.  Lets just say it was a good thing the room below it was not finished.  We found this tub at Menard’s and for $500 it was both a good buy and good fit.  Bathrooms are a challenge but can be so rewarding when finished.

Tub and shower

Trying to work with a sloped ceiling was a bit awkward.  There is a tile issue at the top which is something we didn’t notice until later.  Planning tile takes a bit of practice and should be done on paper!!   We will always be learning I guess.  Making sure the plumbing is insulated was another concern.  The attic is behind the shower head so although it is not an outside wall it still had to be insulated.

Bathroom Vanity
The Vanity is located across from the shower

The toilet had to be left in the same area because moving the waste pipe was more than we wanted to do.  We found a vanity that fit the space as well as the look we were going after.  The original bathroom had a shower/tub combo and a pedestal sink.  Our wish list included in a new toilet, a freestanding tub, a stall shower and a vanity.  The things that couldn’t change were the location of the toilet, the location of the window and we had to try to keep it within our budget.  I think the we did pretty good for first timers and it is functioning well.
